Employers’ use of social networking sites, such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, and, more recently, Twitter, is the them of my guest posts this week on the LexisNexis Workers’ Compensation Center. I’ve posted this week on the many ways employers have found to use these online tools (How Employers Are Putting Online Social Networking Sites to Work ), and about the risks that employers face when using these tools to investigate employee fraud. Today we did a podcast on the same topic, which you can download here for free.
The use of online social networking sites has continued to skyrocket–including use by adults over 25. So long as this trend continues, it seems difficult to imagine that employers will simply ignore the potential resources that exist online. As I’ve previously discussed, there are plenty of reasons to utilize these tools. But there are even more reasons to do so in a way that will avoid as much legal risk as possible. Check out the podcast to learn more.
